In further Maths, you will explore many more different topics which will broaden your view of the mathematical world.  You will be studying Core Pure Mathematics which accounts for 50% of the course and the other 50% will be made up of Further Mechanics and Decision Maths.

The current Year 12 have the option to sit the AS exam at the end of year 12, after which they can either continue into year 13 or then leave the subject and focus on their other A-Levels. The AS will carry UCAS points and is still an excellent qualification.

Core Pure (Compulsory modules)

You will study proof, complex numbers, matrices, further algebra and functions, further calculus, further vectors, polar coordinates, hyperbolic functions and differential equations.

Further Mathematics 1

The topics of momentum and impulse, collisions, work and energy, elastic strings and springs will be covered.

Decision Mathematics

You will study algorithms, networks, route inspection and linear programming.

The Key Stage 5 Further Maths Curriculum Plan can be found at the bottom of this page.
