Last term our Year 10 GCSE athletes plus a few guests, took part in the inaugural Kettering & Corby Schools Super 8 Competition. Super 8 involves a mixed team of 16 students (8 boys and 8 girls) who have to compete in one track and one field event, plus either a 4x 100m relay or medley relay.

The events were 80/100m hurdles, 100m, 200m, 800m, shot, long jump, high jump and javelin. All students competed really well and produced some impressive results, giving them valuable evidence for their GCSE exam. The team accumulated a total of 2100, which placed them in first postition with a 173 point buffer.

The highlight of the day was the mixed medley relay. The boys and girls combined to run a total of 1600m, sharing legs of either 100m or 200m.

We hope that this will become a fixture on the schools athletics calendar for the coming years.
