With GCSE examinations and A-Levels upon us, students will be busy revising. There are many ways to revise, and there is a revision section full of advice on Firefly for students and parents on the links below:

Student Revision

Parent Revision Guide

There are some basics which are essential. Students must know:

  • The date and session (morning or afternoon) of each exam they are taking;
  • How many papers there are for each subject;
  • The length and exact content of each paper.

It would be good to discuss these at home, so that as parents, you are clear about the exam period itself. This will help with designing an effective revision timetable, and prioritising and practising the specific skills needed for each paper.

Study Skills (Year 11) and Tutorial (Years 12 and 13) from now on will give students an hour a fortnight to focus on the skills of revision. They can seek help if they are unsure on any area, and use this time to complement the learning they are undertaking at home.
