Bishop Book Week

As you know, Bishop Book Week took place recently with high profile events in the library, all of which were very well attended by our students.

We began the week with a Fast Fiction game - how many authors could you match to their book titles in five minutes?  The winner was Emily Betts (9P) who scored an impressive 30 out of 30 in the fastest time overall.  There were some other great scores, and well done to all those who took part.

Throughout the week, we also ran our ‘llustration Station’ competition. Students were asked to re-imagine a famous or favourite book cover. It was  made very difficult to judge because of the great standard of entries, with the winning prize going to Isabelle Hawker (7W) for her brilliant re-imagining of The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani.  What was particularly impressive was Isabelle’s use of lettering in her design.  A strong second was Lily Burns (8C) with her adorable depiction of a Niffler based on J K Rowling’s The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Quizzes proved very popular with team MTCSA (Mysterious and Therefore Cool Sounding Acronym) coming first in our Book Quiz and team The Mannz coming a close second. Well done to all those who took part.

There were about 35 entrants for the General Knowledge Quiz with Nicola Heekin (9P) coming first – well done Nicola. Students asked for more quizzes in the library, so look out for details!

Our ‘Fill a Bag’ for £2 book sale was very well received by students and staff alike.  We have raised £90.00 for Book Trust, a national children’s literacy charity.
