Bedrock Vocabulary

Academic research has proven a direct link between a student's vocabulary size and their academic achievement. Narrow vocabularies affect grades and helping students to improve and widen their academic vocabularies is essential if they are to exceed in exams. 

With this in mind, Bishop Stopford has recently invested in an online package called 'Bedrock Vocabulary' for use with our Year 7 students. The software is excellent, teaching vocabulary explicitly, whilst encouraging reading. It also teaches students the academic vocabulary they need to succeed in school.

The aim is to launch the programme after half-term by setting tasks on Bedrock as English homework. Individual log-ins for students will be sent out via InTouch over the next week or so and more information on the software itself can be found on Bedrock's website at:
