Overview

Bishop Stopford School Sixth Form is a lively community of approximately 400 students offering 26 A level subjects. Standards continue to be impressive; approximately 150 students go on to university including Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group every year.

Students enrol on 3 course programmes provided they have the Attainment 8 score of 50 or more and English Level 5 and Maths Level 4.

High achievers take 4 subject-specific A Level courses.

A separate Sixth Form Centre exists with its own social area and specialist staff. A state-of-the-art extension provides tutorial rooms, offices and a large university style study area.

Subject specific trips are arranged to complement individual courses.

A Student Leadership team are appointed every spring along with a Head Boy and Girl in Year 12 and hold the position through Year 13. They perform a number of leadership duties and are important ambassadors of the school.

We are always pleased to receive applications from students currently at other schools who wish to join our Sixth Form. Nearly a quarter of our Sixth Form students join us from other schools across Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. These external students bring welcome ‘new blood’ and have generally shown great benefit from the ‘fresh start’. A separate Sixth Form Prospectus, a Parents' Information Evening & Curriculum Presentation, and an Induction course all help to pave the way from Year 11 to Year 12.
