If this course is chosen, it must be in addition to the single A Level course.

This course is designed for those who:

- find sufficient enjoyment in Mathematics to develop the subject beyond the usual A level extent and depth;
- want to keep open the option of pursuing a higher education course in Mathematics, Physics or Engineering;
- may wish to sit Oxford or Cambridge University Entrance for Mathematics, Natural Sciences or Engineering;

There is some flexibility in Further Maths course options but all students will need to study Further Pure Mathematics which will count for 50% of the course. The other 50% is likely to made up of additional Further Pure topics and additional Mechanics.

**Further Pure Compulsory**

Students will study proof, complex numbers, matrices, further algebra and functions, further calculus, further vectors, polar coordinates, hyperbolic functions and differential equations.

**Further Mathematics Option 1 ***

Further calculus, further differential equations, coordinate systems, further vectors, further numerical methods and inequalities will be studied.

**Further Mechanics 1 ***

The topics of momentum and impulse, collisions, centres of mass, work and energy, elastic strings and springs will be covered.
