Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Policy and Report

Bishop Stopford School has a track record of success in providing for a wide range of differing needs. This includes catering for students with:

  • Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • Visual Impairment
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Emotional, Social and Mental Health Difficulties

We provide for differing needs in line with expectations of mainstream schools as detailed on the NCC local offer.

When considering admitting a student with special educational needs, discussions with the student's family and the Local Authority take place prior to admission to ascertain the suitability of provision. School initially makes provision for a student with Special Educational Needs through a devolved budget.

As a mainstream school, it is not always appropriate to make provision for students whose needs and/or demands are significant, severe or profound, because of the level of expertise available.

Our SEND Policy is currently under review and an update will be published at the end of January 2021.
