The PE curriculum at Bishop Stopford is structured to follow the requirements of the National Curriculum and the aims of the school as a whole. Physical Education covers both activities in and outdoors. Major games include Rugby, Football, Hockey, Netball, Basketball, Cricket and Rounders.
Other activities included in the curriculum are: Trampolining, Gymnastics, Fitness/SAQ, Handball, Tennis, Badminton, Cheerleading, Body Toning, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Athletics.
Bishop Stopford’s facilities include a full size sports hall, a Gym, six Tennis courts, five Netball courts, three outdoor basketball courts and grass Rugby and Football pitches.
Physical Education is timetabled across the school with 2 hours a week for all year groups in Key Stages three and four. Students are introduced to a wide range of activities across the National Curriculum activity areas. In Year 10 students have the opportunity to opt to study GCSE Physical Education. In Year 12 students have the chance to study both AS PE leading to an A2 course in Year 13.
