Sporting Achievements

Once again, our students have achieved highly in sport with particular success in the following:

Hal Robinson 8D, has again been chosen to attend Skills Set Coaching at Northamptonshire Country Cricket Club. These sessions are designed for young players on the NCC Players Pathway system and the Skills Set Standard only involves 11 players, hence a notable achievement.

Christopher Stoker in Year 12 has been successful in being selected for the Under 17 Northamptonshire County Cricket team for the second year running.

Congratulations to you both.

Under 13s Netball County Plate

The Year 8 Netball team won the Kettering and Corby District League this year and progressed into the U13s Country Plate at Kettering Buccleuch Academy. It was a cold and windy day, and they came up against some very difficult teams from the district. The team put on a very strong performance during all their games, winning all but two after playing ten matches.

The girls came runners- up in the County plate to Sponne, who they lost to by only two goals in the final minutes of the game. Coming runners-up in the County Plate competition has enabled the team to go onto the County Cup at Oundle on the 5th March, where they will face Sponne, amongst others, for another tough match.

The team played some great netball throughout the tournament showing a strong team bond and plenty of determination. It was a pleasure to see such a hardworking talented team progress further in the competition. It is well deserved for all the students involved who have trained very hard throughout the district season and in the build up to the County Plate.

The team consisted of: Ava Robb 8D, Ella White 8D, Maddie Mayes 8E, Chloe Hodges 8G, Janki Patel 8G, Emma Robinson 8G, Natasha Murwira 8S, Ruby Allen 8W, Symran Mann 8Y.

Well done, and good luck for the next round.

Under 15s Netball County Plate

The Under 15 squad won the Kettering and Corby league this year and so progressed into the County Plate competition. This was held at Caroline Chisholm School, and on a sunny but cold morning we headed over knowing we had been placed in a very difficult pool with tough competition.

The girls performed consistently throughout all their pool games and won them all. Quinton House was a tough battle but the girls managed to pull away and win by two goals. As we progressed into the semis and then finals, we soon realised we were to meet Quinton House again. It was a very competitive game which could have ended in either team being victorious. Unfortunately, this time Quinton managed to have the upper hand. Coming runners-up in such a massive competition is a huge achievement and has enabled the squad to progress onto the County Cup at Oundle School on March 6th.

I'm sure we will come up against Quinton again, and I know the girls will be ready to draw strength from their experience and put out their best performance. Once again, it was a pleasure to see the squad play such high level netball and have such strong team cohesion. Experiencing success and sometimes failure in sport has certainly given them the resilience to go onward and play their best County Cup in a few weeks.

The team consisted of: Matilda Braithwaite 10C, Blainne Conway 10C, Millie Toseland 10C, Fay Robinson 10G, Emily Burton 10P, Charlotte Passmore 10P, Rosie Squires 10P, Sarah Kleyn 10S, Harriet Drake-Lee 10W.

Good luck girls, and well done for your success so far.
