National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day on Thursday 28th September was marked by a variety of events including: staff being invited to share a poem with students; a display of poetry books and featured poems in and outside the library, and the chance to pick up a poem on this year's theme of Freedom. We are also running two poetry related competitions.

Students are invited to write a poem on the chosen theme. This will be judged by some of our English teachers and will relate to the following age categories: Year 7, Years 8 & 9, Years 10 & 11 and 6th Form.

Alternatively, they can learn a poem by heart and recite it to a member of staff in the library. Students should take a copy of their chosen poem with them to the library. Recited poems should be longer than a Haiku or Limerick and all participants will be rewarded.

Please note the closing date for both competitions is Thursday 12th October.
