Library News

There are many ways to keep up with reading while in lockdown. Magazines, newspapers and online articles all count and are a great way to keep up with current events.

On our Library Firefly page - https://bishopstopford.fireflycloud.net/library you will find links to:

  • Accessing books from home, with links to Northamptonshire Library membership
  • Reading challenge which includes how to write a book review
  • Browsing the school library catalogue and requesting books
  • Additional resources - which has the links to JSTOR and E-Mag for KS4 & 5 as well as links for KS3 resources.
  • Accelerated Reader

You can also use “AR bookfind” https://www.arbookfind.co.uk. Just click “student”, there is no need to put in a password as it is open access. It a quick way to find out which books have quizzes.

Community Libraries

I would strongly recommend that all students join their local library service, it is FREE and will have a wealth of FREE e-books, e-audiobooks, online newspapers, magazines and subscriptions to academic journals, driving theory, citizenship, family history and heritage, literature, music and the arts and more.

To find out how to join online and the current status of Northamptonshire libraries, go to https://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/councilservices/library-service/Pages/default.aspx

Students can also use the following link to access a free e-book each week as well as other articles and resources – https://www.tes.com/news/pupils-can-access-free-books-during-school-closures
