French and Spanish Flash Fiction Competition

All year groups, from Year 7 to Year 13 can participate in the Spanish and French Flash Fiction 100 word contest.
Whether you are in Year 7 or Year 13, chances are you are or have already done this, so why not restyle it and get recognised and paid for your talent?

The annual French & Spanish flash fiction competition is now open for entries. Students are invited to submit a short story in French or Spanish of no more than 100 words, on a topic of their choosing. There are two categories of entry: Years 7-11 and Years 12-13.

Entries will be judged on imagination and narrative flair, as well as linguistic ability. Your use of French or Spanish will be considered in the context of your age and year group: in other words, younger students will not compete against older ones linguistically. Judges will award a prize of £100 in each category as well as prizes of £25 to runners up. If you have any questions, email:

The deadline for submissions is noon on Wednesday 31st March 2021. Submit your entry online here. Please read the submission instructions carefully as you may need to click a link in a verification email.

Students must enter the competition themselves, and winning entries of last year’s French and Spanish flash fiction competition can be found here.
