A visit from Jim Kay, Illustrator

Jim Kay, who is an illustrator and winner of the Greenaway Medal for the book A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, visited the library this week and gave a very entertaining and informative talk.

This was hugely enjoyed by both students and teachers, especially when he told the wonderful stories behind the drawings and paintings in the latest large format Harry Potter books. The detail, creativity and artful design behind these wonderful illustrations will make us all 'read' these pictures very carefully in the future.

Jim gave details of his jobs within the film industry where he has created props, sets and costume designs. He explained how an illustrator works and the financial rewards for this very intense and competitive craft.

We did not want the lunchtime to end and we hope that Jim will come back for a further visit.
